January Empties

This post is a little late as I haven't been very well over the past couple of days. Anyway, here are my empties for January.

I have tried to use up some of my samples this month, and as I have stayed at my Mum's house a couple of times I made sure to put samples, where possible, in my toiletry bag. I did find a few items that I definitely want to buy in their full sizes in the future.

My January Favourites

These are my favourite items from January. All of these products only cost me personally £1!! Let me explain...
Obviously the Omorovicza serum was a free sample, as was the Dirty Works Body Butter. I won the Lavera shower gel in a competition on the Lavera facebook page, and the L'Occitane was part of a gift I received for Christmas. The one thing I actually paid for was the Body Shop shower gel, but it was on offer for three for £3, so not bad for this bargainista last month.

My shower Products

I loved both of these products. The Lavera bath and shower gel in Rose Garden is beautiful. The fragrance completely enveloped me and even hours later there was still a noticeable rose scent on my body, and in my bathroom. I made sure to leave the bathroom door open whenever I used this shower gel so the smell would spread throughout my home. As with all Lavera products this shower gel is 100% natural, chemical free, and best of all of course, involves absolutely no animal testing. It is made with organic wild roses, mmmm doesn't that sound lovely? And it is. I will definitely be buying this again. This product is available online, and costs just £6.45  for 150ml from http://www.pravera.co.uk

The Body Shop Earth Lovers shower gel in pear and lemon grass fragrance also gets my vote. For such a low price this product really performs well, and again I would highly recommend it, especially when it is on sale at http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk although the list price is £5 for 250ml, the Body SHop always has a sale on. It has a fresh, natural smell and I only needed a small amount on my sponge to get a lot of suds and bubbles. It is really good value for money.

My favourite face and body products

Dirty works body butter

I was more impressed with the Dirty Works body butter than I expected to be. It was obvious as soon as I tried it that it contains shea butter and sweet almond oil from both the fragrance and the way my skin felt after applying it. I used this 20ml sample over a few days on my hands and arms, and I loved the way it smelt, and the way it made my skin feel. Obviously Dirty Works products are dupes of Soap and Glory, and I have to say that this product at least is a very good dupe that I will definitely buy again. It is available in a 300ml tub and the list price is £4.99, but, it is often half price in Sainsbury's. Even at full price it retails at about half the price of Soap and Glory!

I use L'Occitane products all the time and always have a travel size hand cream in my hand bag. This past month I used up a cherry blossom fragrance hand cream, which I really like. What more can be said about this brand that hasn't been said a hundred times? Well not much, so I will just say that as with all L'Occitane products this is well worth the money and does what it says in the blurb. It smells wonderful and leaves your hands soft and not sticky. You can pick up the 30ml size for £8 from http://uk.loccitane.com

I am in love with the Omorovicza radiance renewal serum now I have tried it. The company itself says of this serum, " This oil-free soothing serum helps to brighten dull complexions and erase any signs of tiredness" and I would say they are spot on with that description. My skin felt soft and smooth, and did look brighter as soon as I applied the serum. I would love to use this product every day, but at £75 for 30ml that is not going to happen, sadly. I will keep my eyes open for discounts on this brand though, and if I find this discounted I will definitely stock up, it is wonderful on my 52 year old skin. You can buy this, and all Omorovicza products, from their web site at http://www.omorovicza.com

January's basic products

Not much to say about these products, I ran out of Listerine and bought the Aquafresh mouth wash as a stop gap product. It's OK, milder than Listerine and freshens your breath. The Imperial Leather Jasmine Touch hand soap is my favourite fragrance from this brand. It leaves my hands smelling sweetly of jasmine and is naturally antibacterial, which I of course prefer to chemicals, a nice cheap every day hand soap. The Gucci Premiere sample was a disappointment as it was just one of the little wet squares rather than the little vial many companies give out as samples. I couldn't get any real idea of how this perfume works on my skin, but my daughter received a gift set of this from my son for Christmas and it is a beautiful fragrance, if a little expensive. I would say it is worth the price tag though.

Mainly more samples here. The Matis intensive resourcing cream was nice, but I doubt I would buy again as it didn't make my skin feel amazing or anything. The L'Oreal Revitalift BB cream felt a little heavy compared to other BBs I have tried, so I won't be buying this one. I did like the way my skin felt after applying the L'Oreal youth code serum and this is one I will consider in the future as it is more in my price range than the Omorovicza serum. I have used the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair before and I do like it and will probably buy it again at some point.
I finally used up the Clairol Perfect 10 conditioner, which had been in my shower for a couple of months, since I last dyed my hair. This conditioner always leaves my hair feeling in great condition and is another product I would highly recommend. The conditioners that come with hair dyes always seem superior to other conditioners to me, especially this one.
I don't even remember when or where I bought the travel size hair spray, Freeze It. I always like to have a travel size hair spray in though, to put in my handbag on a night out. This one was fine, nothing special, and I doubt I would buy it again. It did brush out of my hair completely and did smell nice though.

Well there you have it, my first monthly empties post, I hope you enjoyed seeing the products I have used up in this past month. If you have any questions about any of these products please leave me a comment and I will try my best to answer you.

    1. I know! But this year I am going to try and save money by using my samples, I do have quite a lot! And of course every time I see any samples are available I have to apply, so my stash keeps getting bigger and bigger. It did help that I was out overnight a couple of times, as samples are perfect for throwing in an over night bag. x

  2. Hi Angela, I did post a comment on your Yankee candle post but I don't think it was saved :(
I'm not able to reply to comments on my blog so decided to pop over here and have a snoop while I was here.
I don't do extra work regularly, WR was my first and a friend of a friend asked me if I would do it and I agreed. I actually did it a couple of weeks ago but I had to wait on permission coming through to blog about it. It lasted for 3 days so only one more post to go.

Thank you for taking the time to comment, although I can't reply to them, I do read them and eventually figure out how to get in touch lol!
